THE Almond Butter

This year, I’ve really tried focusing on how I fuel my body. So I don’t blow it and become frustrated, I don’t get rid of everything bad in my diet at once. I simply replace bad things I love gradually with better options.

Granted, I’ve never been a peanut butter fanatic, but I did occasionally dip some apple slices (never a huge fan here, either) in some sweet, salty goodness from time to time.

I’ve heard of almond butter, but I’ve never tried it. Aside from the high price tag, it just sounded like one of those health things that wasn’t going to taste as good as its cousin. One of my friends recommend I try the RXBar brand of vanilla almond butter, and prepare to have my mind blown.

It is creamy, sea salty, and has NO ADDED SUGAR. A tablespoon (or two) of this stuff with some sliced apples is my favorite snack of the day. When I’m cursing Jericho and Joel under my breath for making me do ground to fighter stance for a minute straight, I’m working for that nut butter.

The only places I have found this stuff is at Target, Amazon, and buying direct. It comes in single serve packets at a high price tag of $1.50 a serving. I usually wait for it to go on sale for 4/$5. When it’s not on sale, I’ve tried Justin’s, and while it’s really good as well, it has added sugar which makes me cry.

They are now carrying it in a jar (hallelujah), which comes out to be a better bargain than single serve packets. Also, it was on sale yesterday for only 9 bucks and some change. I know, I know. Dang! That’s expensive. But, you only get one body. I’ll sacrifice some other things in my life to make sure I’m fueling myself properly.

Eat it with some apples, some bananas, stir it in your oatmeal, or slather it on your waffles. You can rest assured you know exactly what you’re eating: 1 egg white, 18 almonds, 1/2 date, and no B.S.

Get your mind out of the gutter. That last one stands for no “bad stuff!”
